Moss, born on 13th February 1977, is an ex-American player in the field of
football. He was a player for the Minnesota Vikings (Oak Raiders), New England
Patriots (New England Patriots), Tennessee Titans (Tennessee Titans), and the
San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League. Many consider him to be
the greatest wide receiver in history together with Jerry Rice, he holds the
NFL single-season touchdown reception record (23 in 2007) in addition to the
NFL single-season record for touchdown reception for rookies (17 in 1998) and
is second in the NFL all-time regular season touchdown list with 156. Moss is
known for his ability catch contested passes. The term "mossed" which
is now a part of the vocabulary of football, became popularized because of
this. Following his football career and broadcasting, he began working as a
studio analyst at ESPN for their Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night
Countdown. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. Moss was a student at DuPont
High School. This was one of two schools that later amalgamated to form
Riverside High School. He excelled at football, basketball and baseball. Randy
was also a member of the school's debate team. Moss was the captain of the
DuPont Panthers football team to two consecutive state championships in 1992,
1993. His primary position was wide receiver. However, Moss also played safety
for free as well as punted kickoffs. He also was the team’s punter and kicker.
In 1994, he won with the Kennedy Award as the West Virginia Football Player of
the Year. Parade magazine named him to their annual All-American high school
football team in 1995. in 2009, they named him one of the 50 greatest football
players in high school ever.
