Chieng born 21 November 1985 , non-primary source required is a Malaysian
comedian and actor. Chieng is currently a senior correspondent for The Daily
Show on Comedy Central. He also developed and is the star of the sitcom Ronny
Chieng International Student, which premiered on ABC Australia (Australia) in
2017. Chieng was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to an Malaysian Chinese family.
Chieng grew up both in Singapore and the United States, living in Manchester,
New Hampshire from 1989 until 1994. Chieng was a performer at the comedy
festival in Melbourne, Australia in 2013, with Trevor Noah. Chieng was then
invited to audition for the position of Noah's Daily Show two years after. He
was named among the top 10 comics to watch by Variety in July of 2016. In
October of 2016, Chieng appeared as a guest on The Daily Show to react to an
interview with Jesse Watts on a Fox News segment that many thought was racist.
Chieng offers a scathing critique of the show on the conservative network.
Chieng also revisited the city's Chinatown in which Watters had mocked
residents, and conducted interviews more respectfully with residents in
Mandarin as well as Cantonese. The viral video was featured in Slate as well as
the Washington Post. In his youth, Chieng was an Singapore Sea Scout. Chieng
hasn't managed to get citizenship or permanent residence status in Australia
despite living in Australia for ten years. Chieng made an ad-lib about being an
apologist for cynophobia on the 2018 Daily Show. However Chieng later said that
he's "100% not afraid of dogs" in an interview.
